Hiking Tent: Pro's & Con's
“Hiking” What you feel to do after hearing this word. Does it not take you to the mid of the mountains where you are having fun with your friends. I am sure that you all must have gone for hiking at least once in your life. And then you might also be well aware of the things required for a successful hiking trip.

Hikers have three main forms of shelter. They include hiking tents, bags, and tarps. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. We will here disclose to you various benefits and drawbacks of hiking tent. I am sure that this information will be useful for you. So go through each point very carefully.

First we will discuss about the benefits which hiking tent provide us:
Protection
Hiking tents keep you protected from adverse weather conditions better than other forms of shelter. If you use a tarp or bivy sack, you are out in the open and unprotected from rain and wind. Tents keep you warm from the wind and dry from the rain. A hiking tent will also protect you from insects if you go for other types or varieties of hiking tent, you will be out in the open and subject to insect bites.

Environment
Hiking tents also help you protect the environment and preserve nature. If you sleep in a hammock, you may have to damage tree bark to get it hanging. All you have to do to erect tents is find a level area and drive a few stakes in the ground.

Privacy
Most people want a little bit of privacy while hiking. Even when you’re out in the wild, other hikers may also be around. Backpacking tents give you much more privacy than sacks, tarps, or hammocks. Now that we’ve covered some of the advantages, it’s time to go over the disadvantages of a backpacking tent.

Now is the time to discuss some disadvantages (they are not very serious, but yet it is good to know them beforehand). Here is what I am talking about:
Weight problem
As you all that the things which you take for your hiking trip does not weight much, but you might feel like that the hiking tent is much heavier in weight than the other things. But this problem has a solution, while selecting a hiking tent just inquire about its weight ad choose the lightest (but strong) among them.

Sleeping problem for certain people
Sometimes the people who are suffering from back pain problem may find the sleeping in these hiking tents slightly difficult. This is mainly because that the hiking tent is made up of quite a thin cloth and if some stone or stick or something like that comes beneath the hiking tent, one may feel a little uncomfortable.

One of the final disadvantages of hiking tent is setup time. After a long day of hiking, you will likely be tired and want to fall asleep as soon as possible. If you brought along a backpacking tent, it may take a while for you to get it erected. If you used a bag, all you had to do was lay it down and climb in. Tarps are also much easier to erect than tents.
